CSEAR is pleased to announce the first online event for the CSEAR Education Community of Practice (ECoP).
Join us online on Thursday 13 October (0900 UK, 1000 France, 1100 Finland, 1900 Australia) for a discussion about teaching ‘Sustainability Accounting’ with panellists Nicolas Antheaume (Nantes), Bisola Joloko (Birmingham), Hannele Mäkelä (Tampere) and Leanne Morrison (Tasmania). Each panelist will briefly share their experiences of teaching sustainability in a variety of accounting courses and views on what is important for social and environmental accounting education. This will be followed by an open discussion with the audience where you will have the chance to ask the panelists questions.
Speaker Biographies
Nicolas Antheaume is professor of Accounting at the School of Economics and Management at Nantes Université in France. He is also associate professor at Audencia’s research centre on multicapital global performance. He specialises in accounting for sustainable development and the circular economy. He has contributed to the creation of resources for training in circular economy business models (www.bm3c2.fr). In 2021-2022 he took part, as a project management officer, in the European accounting standard setting work within the EFRAG Project Task Force on EU Sustainability Reporting Standards. He teaches accounting for sustainable development to students in Audit, in Management Control, in Economics and in Engineering.
Bisola Joloko is a postgraduate researcher at Birmingham Business school researching sustainability accounting, education, and the accounting profession. Her PhD research focuses on how sustainability is integrated into professional accounting education using distinct cases of the UK and Nigeria. She has both academic and professional qualifications in accounting. She has worked in Nigeria as a lecturer in accounting for five years with teaching experience in sustainability accounting, environmental accounting, financial accounting, and management accounting.
Hannele Mäkelä is a senior lecturer in accounting at Tampere University. Hannele's research is primarily in the areas of sustainability and critical accounting studies, examining the relationships between accounting and society and drawing on literatures from sustainability, accountability, and critical studies. The same interests guide her teaching approach, putting emphasis on critical analysis and engaging students in knowledge construction on sustainability.
Dr Leanne Morrison is a Senior Lecturer in Climate Accounting at the University of Tasmania, where she co-leads the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics Climate Network. Prior to joining UTAS, Dr Morrison led the Climate Change & Environment research group within the RMIT Business and Human Rights Research Centre. Dr Morrison is a passionate teacher, who has inspired accounting students to better understand the impacts of business on society and nature. Her teaching is research-informed, drawing from her expertise in governance, sustainability management, climate change policy and environmental reporting.
About
The CSEAR Education Community of Practice will meet via online events of about 60 minutes, in which 3 to 4 panelists will share their experiences with additional time for questions and discussions with the audience. The events will be hosted on Zoom and open to all. Each event will be recorded and made available to CSEAR members in the members’ area of the website.
