The Reg Mathews Memorial Prize is an annual award for the paper considered to have made the most significant contribution towards the social and environmental accounting literature published in Social and Environmental Accountability Journal (SEAJ). The paper is selected by the Editorial Board of SEAJ and is named in memory of Professor Reg Mathews, a leading figure in the development of social and environmental accounting.
This year, SEAJ is pleased to announce both a winner’s prize and a high commendation, acknowledging the quality of articles published in 2023.
Madlen Sobkowiak, along with her co-authors Juliette Senn and Hendrik Vollmer, has been awarded the winner’s prize for their paper titled “Rethinking Planetary Boundaries: Accounting for Ecological Limits.” It’s truly exciting to witness a young team of scholars making bold contributions to the literature on social and environmental accounting! Madlen is Associate Professor of Accounting at EDHEC Business School in France, Juliette is Assistant Professor at Montpellier Business School, while Hendrik is Reader of Accounting at Warwick Business School.
