Résumé : Selon certains auteurs, la dette est essentielle dans les sociétés néolibérales pour gouverner les populations. La relation entre le débiteur et le créditeur est centrale et peut être utilisée pour régir la vie de populations, tant au niveau individuel qu’à l’échelle des états. La comptabilité étant au cœur d’une telle relation de pouvoir, de plus en plus de chercheurs et chercheuses en comptabilité se penchent sur le sujet. Afin d’en discuter plus en profondeur, nous aurons le plaisir d’accueillir Christine Gilbert, professeure agrégée de l’Université Laval, qui a étudié l’utilisation de la rhétorique du problème de la dette publique mobilisée au Québec afin d’obtenir le consentement des populations pour la mise en place de mesures néolibérales. Le cas du Québec l’amène à réfléchir aux manières alternatives à l’approche rationnelle afin de communiquer plus efficacement un point de vue divergent du sens commun, une approche importante pour des penseurs tels qu’Antonio Gramsci. Le 28 octobre, ce sujet de l’utilisation des chiffres comptables pour les débats sur la place publique sera au centre des discussions. Une rencontre à ne pas manquer !
(According to some authors, debt is essential in neoliberal societies to govern populations. The relationship between the debtor and the creditor is central and can be used to govern the lives of people, both at the individual and state levels. Accounting being at the heart of such a power relationship, more and more accounting researchers are looking into the subject. In order to discuss it in more depth, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Christine Gilbert, associate professor at Laval University, who has studied the use of the rhetoric of the public debt problem mobilized in Quebec in order to obtain the consent of the populations for the implementation of neoliberal measures. The case of Quebec led him to reflect on alternative ways to the rational approach in order to more effectively communicate a divergent point of view from common sense, an important approach for thinkers such as Antonio Gramsci.
